Getting Rid of the Junk

Whether you're scrolling down your Instagram feed, or that of Facebook and Twitter, you'll probably
come across so many quotes. Even in real-life conversations, you'll hear inspiring stories and ideas - but I'm learning to filter out the junk. Not everything that sounds good is good. Heck, I share a good amount of "encouragement" myself but I'm learning to check it for truth first because it really is detrimental to my growth (and that of your audience!).

I'm reminded of 1 Thessalonians 5:21 - you should examine everything and honour the truth, and get rid of the junk. And there's a lot of junk out there. The best test would be to line it up with the Word - next time I come across a cute saying, I'm going to say "where's the scripture reference for that?". Ha!

I generally go with my gut (and often roll my eyes at the rubbish). Although that too can be misleading if your gut isn't trained. I've always prayed for discernment, because the Holy Spirit himself can direct your thinking - it's always nice to know that you have help.

And that's all I have to say about that.
