Two Trends [for Him]

Husband's bold look offered the perfect chance to put him up on the blog again (I told you he is taking over)! Not only is he showing off my favourite colour block combo (green and blue, okay... there's purple in there too), but he's also doing a subtle print mix (a check in purple, and another in blue). 

A three-way colour block and a print mix? Brave man. Well, I did read somewhere (there are rules for these things, apparently) that you should do no more than three colours when colour blocking, and never combine more than two trends at once. A+ Husband, A+.

Thankful Tuesday (on Wednesday)

I mixed my Monday with my Tuesday and completely missed Thankful Tuesday in the process, but I've got so much to be thankful for - here're some of the little things that make life sweeter these days (on this Wednesday).

Something to look forward to. Every now and then.

Ice cream.

Warm weather, and more ice cream.

Recipe books filled with great Summer foods to inspire me right into the kitchen. 

Gifts. I like them.

Better days. So good that they're guaranteed. 

People. I don't like to be alone.

Strawberries. Mm.

Nail polish. I mean, we're letting our toes out aren't we?

Open doors.

Perfect timing. God's.

Moody Dresser

I'm a moody dresser so when I felt like going casual, and almost unnoticed today, I opted for low-key colours and no-fuss, flowy cuts. I added this necklace, gifted by my sis-in-law Lee (thank you sis!), just to show that I'm still alive! I think I was still true to my personality, on this particularly day - but these top-to-toe dull colours would rarely be my first choice. Are you a moody dresser? Do you dress your personality? What determines your style choice?

p.s. Can you tell I'm in this lazy mood by the pictures too? I'm clearly sitting this one out!

Another piece by Pure. I adore this dress! So much so, I got it in grey too. It's the perfect fun, flirty baby doll dress. It's also great for layering so will take me through the seasons (by the way, can you feel Spring on the way, South Africa?). I'm a huge fan of versatility so this dress has become a key piece in my wardrobe; I envision styling it a number of ways. Talk about an affordable investment!

Like a Boss

I adore these pants I grabbed at the last Pure sale. They're so comfortable, so flattering and so luxe! They're like pyjama pants with drama, thanks to the print and waist knot. I thought I'd make a suit of it and pair it with a top of the same colour - turned out pretty well, I think.

Thankful Tuesday (Travel Post - Cape Town)

 [Things I'm thankful for.]

Of all the things I'm thankful for this week, I'd like to single out the short trip Hubby and I had to Cape Town this weekend. It was a much needed break, with hours of quality time with my special person.

The first two nights, we stayed at the Fire & Ice Protea Hotel in the city. The second two nights, at Primi Royal in Camps Bay - we preferred this hotel as it's much quieter and has great views of the ocean.

On Friday we kicked off Husband's birthday with a nice breakfast at the V &A Waterfront. Then, onto our favourite activity - shopping. Zara had just opened so we popped in there (and everywhere else). I really appreciate the chilled shopping experience the Waterfront offers (despite the not-so-chilled Zara stop - it was crazy!).

We managed to squeeze in a stop at Second Time Around on Long street (where I bagged some gorgeous Vintage pieces), before heading to supper at Mount Nelson's Planet Restaurant on Orange Street. The restaurant offers great fine dining, and I think Husband was quite pleased with his official birthday celebration :)

On Saturday morning we gobbled up a quick breakfast on Long Street (again). I HAD to visit Old Street (on 301 Long), and finally meet those fashion friends! Bagged some great pieces at their R99 or less sale. Come lunch time, we took a ferry to Robben Island and had a leisurely history lesson.

By night time, we found ourselves at Canal Walk to wind down. We even contemplated seeing a movie, but that didn't happen.

... And before we knew it, it was Sunday - our last day to enjoy this beautiful city. We enjoyed our drive to Simon's Town (where we discovered Nostalgie, a gorgeous little Vintage store!) and explored the town before our next stop - Kalk Bay. We wrapped up the tour with traditional Fish & Chips at Kalky's, right at the harbour. Then, back to Camps Bay to show the town some love.

Then came Monday; we had our things packed (two additional bags later!) - and were off to see my grandmother. She told us ghost stories and we laughed over her greying hair. We probably shouldn't have saved the visit for last because I really didn't want to leave Cape Town then. But leave, we had to - and farewells were said to Ouma, and to this amazing city.
