Bok Friday

I'm wearing my proudly South African top today because the Rugby World Cup in on, and it's Bok Friday (named after our Springboks) in South Africa! These pictures were taken in Melrose Arch last Friday but it's appropriate for today.

Today is a sea of green and gold! I love the patriotic routine of Bok Friday, and Football Friday during the Soccer World Cup last year. Each Friday during the World Cup, we wear our South African t-shirt, whether it's the official team shirt or a supporter's top like mine. Of course, we wear it on match days too. I'd never reach for a t-shirt like this any other day - I'm not a t-shirt and jeans kinda girl, but for the Boks I am!

Today South Africa plays, and I'm holding thumbs.

Jeans: Levi's

Watermelon

Skirt: Cleo Droomer for Mr Price
Top: Mr Price
Shoes: Rage
Bag: Sowearto
Watch: Gifted
Necklace: China Town

I love the place fashion's in right now. A no-rule zone almost. Especially with colours. Today you can put any colours together and it's called colour blocking, a few years ago you were called 'unmatched'. I've always been a fan of not 'matching' per se, but putting colours together that work well together - like this watermelon combo. Even if the 'trend' passes, I think I'll hang onto this idea.

The skirt is from the Elle New Talent Winner 2010, Cleo Droomer's, collection at Mr Price. Limited range so hurry and see what else he's got for you.

SA Fashion Week, Off the Runway

While the latest fashion is on the runway, what's happening off the runway is equally appealing. Here're just a few of the looks I loved.

Elle SA's Fashion Editor Asanda Sizani was always right there, in front of me.

I like this gorgeous polka dot suit she's in here:

Also from Elle, Cheska Liackman - in this gorgeous colour blocked ensemble

And here're other fashion lovers I loved.

Three Designers, Many Celebrities - One Ramp

The final set of South African Fashion Week on Saturday night boasted a few soap stars and some singers, and a few models that had me asking - "which soap is she from?"

Palse Homme

Gert Johan Coetzee

And then we didn't go again on the last day, Sunday. But I saw a few great looks off the runway - I also saw some great shoes. Coming in my next post!

Thanks for reading, have a great day.
