Tickled Pink

Dress: Vintage via Lost & Found
Belt: China Town
Shoes: Noah's Ark?
Bag: Free, explained here

Yes, it's another vintage dress. I feel a bit like a school teacher, in a good way. This is the first time I wear this dress - it's been too cold to wear it before but now that Spring is in the air, it's the perfect sweet little dress. A colleague said to me today, "you look so nice; you remind me of my mother. She use to wear dresses like this one." Ah, I wish I had seen it for myself.

Just like my mood determines what I'll wear each day, the clothes I wear often determine my mood. Like a pretty dress can make you feel girly, this dress makes me feel particularly playful and giggly. If I were a school teacher, what would I be up to?! I like that clothes have that kind of power. What mood are you wearing today?

As always, thank you for reading - I appreciate it.

Pillow Talk

Now that we've just gotten through Winter, I can safely say, a tv in the bedroom works for us. Yes. I never knew that I would admit it, but during those cold Winter nights it was the best thing ever to take dvd's to the bedroom and watch it there - in the comfort of my electric blanket-i-fied bed. Hm.

I will say though, know when to switch it off! Never let the bedroom become the tv/family room.

That said, I'm thinking of ways to edit our bedroom. It's small, which is always a challenge. But I've found that little changes make a big difference. I'm thinking about mirror side tables. The trays we have now annoy me. I may not match the two. The bed's left should not imitate its right, necessarily.

Here's my inspiration:

So, I didn't actually buy the bag. It was free, on condition of course. Although I wish they had just priced the bag so that I can buy it. Anyway, it was free with two Almay purchases at Foschini. And it looks like this (minus the buckle detail):

Now this nude bag has only reinforced my search for pretty nude pumps:

While we're on my wish list: a pretty closet like this would be great too. Thanks:

Have a super weekend!

p.s. check this out, awesome vocal ability of a 12 year old Brazilian boy; awesome gift; awesome annointing! It put a smile on my face today.

Playing Dress Up

Another vintage dress.

Dress: Vintage via Lost & Found
Cropped Jacket: Foschini
Stockings & Shoes: Woolworths
Necklace: China Town Wholesale
Pearl Earrings: Gifted

One of the reasons I love vintage clothing is the way I feel in them, all frilly and dressed up. I like how women dressed like women back in the day, even in pants. This particular dress makes me feel like a real lady. I think it's the combination of its length, the dots, and the waist detail. I contemplated wearing it with a denim jacket for an edgier look but figured that, juxtaposed againsts my tad-bit-crazy personality it would do just fine.

Speaking of feeling like a lady, Dazz Consulting is hosting a Secretaries Day Jamboree in Johannesburg as we commemorate Secretaries Day here in South Africa, on the 7th September. The day will be packed with treats galore, and two lucky delegates will get free make-overs! Take a peep at their website for more.

Thank you to my colleague Smanga for these pictures

This One Time, in Cape Town

A while ago, a colleague and photographer friend of mine and I went to Cape Town for work. I love going there. Most of my family are in Cape Town so it's always great to see them. Besides, it's gorgeous and is really every traveller's dream! So naturally, Lwazi took these beautiful pictures. I thought I'd share.

Thanks for checking in, and stay tuned for some exciting news!

The Dress Mom should'a Kept

Dress & Cardigan: As set, vintage via Lost & Found
Shoes: Launch Footwear via Piccidilly
Necklace: China Town wholesalers

I love vintage pieces (or anything resembling vintage). All too often I'd wear something and my mother would say "I had one just like that." Why didn't you keep it mom??? When I hear stories of my mother's wardrobe, I can't help but mourn the fact that she didn't keep any of it. Yes, I'm sure it ended up with someone who appreciated it. But I can't help but imagine the dresses I could wear today - from my mother's closet!

Shoes? Well, my mom is three sizes bigger so that wouldn't work would it?

Today we see past eras' fashion come back, and I'm sure that's how trends will evolve - forever. So, will my daughter also regret that I gave my clothes away or will she appreciate that I gave it to someone in need? Or, I'm afraid to say, would she not be interested?

When the weekend's over

It's a sunny Monday morning and this is what I'm wearing.

let's ignore my weird eyes

let's also ignore the funny colour of my legs

Top: Pure
Cardigan: Mr Price
 Skirt: Mr Price
Shoes: Woolworths
Bag: Gift
Necklace: Aldo
Earrings: YDE

This weekend was so chilled. We didn't go anywhere. Ok we went one place, on Saturday, to a cafe around the corner, sat on our phones or whatever and ate pizza and had milkshake.

Sunday we had my folks over for lunch. I made chicken curry and pasta. My dad is a picky one. He never eats pasta, and chicken curry is something he will always eat. It's simple. We joked about how I didn't dare make anything fancy because he won't eat it. Or, he'll eat it but tell you he doesn't like it. Picky. He had seconds, so I guess my curry's good.

In between these events of our uneventful weekend, husband and I ate popcorn and sweets in bed. Very chilled.

What husband wore on Saturday

What I wore on Saturday: New clogs by Luella; Jeans by Jet; Top by Mr Price; Cardigan by Pure; Necklace by YDE

Here are some of the things that made my weekend sweet:

Husband's proudly South African sneakers

Giant popcorn in bed with a movie - Frankie & Alice

Gummy Sweets in bed

Chocolate milkshake for me!

Thanks for reading and have a great week!

p.s. happy one year anniversary to the blog! It started a year ago, as a writing outlet - which I should do more of - and so it evolved. I look forward to many blogging adventures.
